Kaya Rose Scodelario
Born Kaya Rose Humphrey; 13 march 1992)is an English actress. She is know for her breackthrough perfomance as Effy Stonem in the E4 teen drama Skins and as Teresa Agnes in thge maze runner film series. Dhe was recently casta as the female lead in Pirates of the caribe: Dead Men Tell No Talles, slated for 2017 release.
EARLY LIFE
Scodelario was born in Haywards Heath. Her mother, Katia Scodelario, is Brazilian, and movend to England in 1990. Her father, Roger Humphrey, was english. Her parents divorced when she was a child and she was brought up by mother, subsequently adopting her su surname and becoming fluent in Portuguese. Scodelario was bullied during her early chilhood and dealt with low self-esteem, which led passion for drama becoming an outlet.
CAREER
SKINS
With no prior acting experience, at the age of 14, Scodelario was cast in the 2007 first seriesd of Skins as Effy Stonem. Upon Scodelario´s arrival to the auditions she felt she was to young and became discouraged, a producer told her to stay and was asked to read the part. While Scodelario,s role had minimal speaking lines the first series, her character developed considerably in the series during 2008, before she eventually became the central character in the 2009 and 2010 series after the cast had been replaced with a new generations of character. This made Effy the only character to appear fro series 1 right trough to series 4 of Skins. Filming the series and that she would miss being on the show. Scodelario left after the fourth series, making way for the third generation of characters. Her perfomance was praised by critics, and she was nominated twice in the category for Best Actress an the TV Quick Awars in 2009 and 2010. Scodelario reprised her role as Effy in the one of the three parts of the seventh (and final)
serieds of Skins, wich is called "Fire", and is a two part rendition of her life as an adult, lasting two hours in total, She claims Fire is "more like movie" and says she can currently relat, as both Caya Scodelario and her character, Effy, Are strugglingto change from a teenager int an adult.
2019 - present
Scodelario made ger film debut in the science fiction-thriller Moon, wich premiered at the 2009 Sundace Film Festival, receiving reviews. In her second film Shank, he plays a teenager caller Thasha. The film was released on 26 of march 2010. In addition, she appeared in the 2010 remake of the Clash of the Titans as Peshet.
Scodelario was previosly signed Models 1 and has modeled for various magazines, including The Vogue, Nylon, Instyle UK, Elle UK, Dazed and Confused, Vogue and i-D. She also appears in the music videos for "Stay too long", "Love Goes Down". and "Writing´s on the wall" by British musician Plan B. She can also be seen in the music video for Old Isleworth by The Ruskings and Robbie Williams 2012 single "Candy"
In april 2010, Kaya Scodelsrio confirmed her casting as Cathy in an adaption of Wuthering Heights Directed by Andrea Arnold. Principal Photography started in september and cloncluded in november 2010. The film premiered at the Venice Film Festival in september 2011 to generally positive reviews, and Scodelario was even hailed as a "heart-wrenching revelation". Wuthering Heights also appeared at several other internatinal film festivals, including the 2011 Toronto internatonal Film Festival, an the 2012 Sundace Film Festival. The film was released in the UK on 11 november.
2011 brought in more projects for Scodelario. She signed on to star a British Triller, Twenty8k, as the character Sally Weaver. Filming lasted six weeks during April and may 2011. The film was released in september 2012. In late june, Scodelario announced that she has signed on to star in Now Is Good with Dakota Fanning. The film is basade on Jenny Downham´s novel, Before I Die, about a teenage girl with leukaemia who creates a list of thing to do before she dies. She portrays Zoey, the protagonist´s best friend. Production was shot in seven weeks in july and August. In late september, Scodelario filmed a television serial for BBC One, True Love, an improvised series comprising five stand-alone episodes, each covering a different love-related dilemma. She is castm in the third storyline as Karen, the love interest of the teacher, who is portrayed by Bilie Piper. The episode aired on june 2012.
